Dismembered in Washington, D.C.

Change: If I had to describe this band to someone who had never heard of these guys before, I would probrably tell them a softer Dave Matthews with a touch of.....oh, heck, they're nothing like Dave Matthews.  Let me tell you that they have drums, singer, guitar, bass, and keyboard with a different sound that is mellow and yet emotional at the same time fluctuating from almost dictation to the louder, yet smooth chorus' and throughout.  In concert, these all around nice guys (even when he swears, Travis Morrison smiles and charms the audience), have a lot of energy fit for dancing.  Like Loyal Frisby or Fugazi, I can see people just swinging around and enjoying themselves without a harsh mosh pit (though I'm sure that happens when people get drunk and forget that they're listening to Indie).
I can honestly say that I enjoy this cd as a way to relax, with great lyrics throughout.  The greatest song by far is the live hit Time Bomb:  I, I am the Time Bomb/ I only live in that moment when you die/ It's not right.  Another song tackles the oddities of watching other's relationships in the groove ridden hook, Ellen and Ben, another favorite of mine.
If you buy this album I definately suggest that you get out to see The Dismemberment Plan's live show because there's a certain magic that they have on stage.  Without a set list and taking requests, and cows randomly dancing up onto stage, I garauntee a great time for all.  Change is constant, and I've enjoyed it in the recording.

Even if you're not buying today, anyone looking at this page would probably be well-served by a visit to Desoto Records, who have a superb catalog--besides us, they carry excellent records by Burning Airlines, Shiner, Juno, The Eternals and more. Also, you can mail-order our t-shirts from them for $10.
