Regulate the Chemicals at first seems like a Pedro the Lion killer. Slow melodious beats resonate as guitar loops in and out of your soul. Almost hitting pop veins, lead
singer Christopher Staples (sounding a little like Chris Carraba from Dashboard who I noticed is actually collaborated if
you read the back of the liner notes), takes control and plays with the rhythms
that people are starting to call out for. I suppose that this record is very useful for falling asleep because
of it's gentleness, but not quite. You'd have to turn off the cd player, because it's hard to not listen to the lyrics
here. The headliner song, The Hands of Man, bring us through a haunting satire of the world of medicine. Injecting you with peace of mind/sleep safely in the hands of man. After
listening to this composition, I'd rather do anything besides that. Just a side note, but some of the singing even reminded
me of Modest Mouse surprisingly, especially in the song The Sticks are Woven in the Spokes. The honesty of this band amazes me,
with the bare bones sound that syringes their skill into my veins. Even their acoustic guitar is above the par, and
despite all the recognizable similarities to other singers at times, Two Thirty Eight puts themselves on an entirely different
plateau with the vastness of the style that they cover. This album is currently second in my listening library. Check
this one out.

*Regulate the Chemicals(takehold records)
Twothirtyeight's most recent release, "Regulate the Chemicals" was recorded and produced
by James Wisner in May of 2000 at his personal studio in Ft. Lauderdale FL. James has worked with bands A Newfound Glory,
Further Seems Forever and Legends of Rodeo, to name a few. It took a total of 10 days to record and mix the 9 songs that make
up the album. RTC reaches a place in sonic quality that is lacking in previous releases. Many would consider this album
to be a departure from the normal twothirtyeight release, being much darker and angry. RTC marks the bands growth in songwriting
and movement into a sound that is all their own. Click here for ordering information.
